JUDI'S REFLECTIONS
On March 22nd, the 10th Floor of the UN Church Center at the heart of New York City became a global gathering point for women from diverse backgrounds, converging to explore the pivotal theme of the 68th United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (UN CSW): "Women and Girls on the Frontlines of Sustainable Climate Actions." Organized by the Green Tent Circle (GTC) and skillfully hosted and moderated by Ann Smith, the event featured a distinguished panel of women luminaries, each illuminating different facets of climate action with their expertise.

The event was not merely a convergence of minds but a potent nexus of collaboration and solidarity. We epitomized the collective strength and determination of women worldwide to address pressing environmental challenges. Amidst the exchange of ideas and experiences, a palpable sense of empowerment permeated the atmosphere, catalyzing networks and forging pathways toward sustainable solutions.

Amidst our discussions, the resonance of the theme "Water for Peace" reverberated profoundly, coinciding with World Water Day on March 22nd. The significance of water, constituting 75-80% of our planet and 80% of our bodies, underscored the interconnectedness between our human existence and environmental sustainability.
The day's proceedings left an indelible impression, emphasizing the transformative potential of collaborative efforts. As individuals shared insights, forged connections, and articulated collective visions, the beauty of collective action became manifest.
In conclusion, the GTC event stands as a testament to the transformative power of women's leadership in advancing sustainable climate actions. It served as a beacon of hope, illuminating the path toward a more inclusive and resilient future for all inhabitants of our shared planet. Like a rallying cry for continued engagement, cooperation, and innovation in addressing the interlinked challenges of gender equality and environmental sustainability.

PAT'S REFLECTIONS
Friday March 22nd on World Water Day an enthusiastic contingent of us from the Green Tent gathered for our panel titled "Women on the Front Lines of Climate Action." Our coming together for the event was yet another endless example of "What Happens When Women Converge". Our anticipation, commitment, and connection were off the charts! We travelled from around the country and Canada to gather in circle around this most urgent topic at the UNCSW.

We were not only not disappointed, but inspired beyond our wildest dreams. The panel included Ann Smith, who organized the event and acted skillfully as facilitator. We began with Great Grandmother Mary Lyons sharing her wisdom via zoom, as travel plans prevented her physical presence. Her indigenous wisdom set the tone for the remainder of the event. Jacqueline Patterson shared her story of her powerful work with the Chisholm Foundation project. Her Illuminator interview is posted on the Green Tent Illuminator series. Jacqueline is a force of nature and her story is an inspiration for us all.

Seven young women and two young men who are students of Drew University attended our Circle of 40 to 50 people, mostly young and mostly Canadian and African women activists. Each of those attendees were engaged in magnificent work on behalf of the planet. To top it off, the Drew students were excited to attend the opening of the movie Chisholm later that evening. Patricia Fero spoke about the power of women converging in service of the planet. We certainly were experiencing that live that afternoon.

Kehkashan Basu rushed in at the last minute after a 13-hour trip from Montreal having just received the Meritorious Service medal of Canada from Governor General of Canada, the highest-ranking position below the monarch. Kehkashan's arrival and sharing of the work that she has been doing in her organization Green Hope  was the powerful ending of the panelist's sharing and then moving into breakout groups of three to four women.

Each woman was there because she was fervently committed to acting on behalf of the best we can do in service of our planet. I left with hope for humanity and all life that I had never had previously. Going forward, connecting with ourselves internally and connecting with one another from our hearts, and moving forward into the world with passionate action is what the Green Tent is all about. It was demonstrated that Friday afternoon on World Wide Water Day at UNCSW. Let's keep the momentum moving.
