A Seed of Hope and Trust

Today I was led on an incredibly beautiful journey. Sometimes spirits of nature come to visit me and we have a chat or I am allowed to assist them in something and learn about the healing gifts in the world surrounding us.

At noon, a spirit of the lakes, a beautiful blueish-white horse with water lilies growing in her mane approached me. She was not alone, but a weathermare, a thunderhorse, was accompanying her. Him I knew well and when I felt her energy, I knew she was of the lakes of the valley I call home. She had been hurt, there was fear in her, but also a tiny speck of hope, a seed of trust, waiting to come into bloom again.

I allowed her to look into my heart. While I was patiently waiting for her to take another step towards me, I sensed that she was not alone, but that she was nourishing and protecting new life. She was in foal. When our hearts connected and began singing together, healing began. Another being, that had been shrouded in dark energy, had been drinking from her milk without permission, thus taking away her own life force and that of the foal, she was carrying under her heart. That being was thrown backwards and out of her energy, when light began filling her heart again. More thunderhorses and horses of the lakes appeared and wanted to attack the dark being, but I asked them not to and to wait, because I wanted to talk to that being first and listen to its story. Our healing ceremony came to an end and she calmly kept on watching me, as I sat down in front of the dark being.

He was a spirit of the mountains and just as hurt as she had been. He told me that his family was starving and dying because their dwellings had been ravaged and destroyed, their livelihood taken by human beings, not only on the physical plane but also on the spiritual one. I recognized one of the energetic imprints on him and who it belonged to. I blessed the mountain spirit and asked the dark smoke to go away.

The spirit of the mountains was taken by complete surprise. Then I created a small mug and filled it with the energies of the waters, minerals, metals and stones found deep within Mother Earth. He was afraid of drinking from it, because he had been deceived before, so I took a sip. He saw, how the energy started healing me. Then the horse spirits stepped forward, one by one, and drank, as the mug grew bigger and bigger and transformed into a trough. One by one, they healed and showed him, that no harm was to come to him. Another thought came to my mind and I created a small bottle. I filled it with the energy and gave it to him. “Plant it in the soil of your home, just like you would plant the seed of a healing herb. It will grow into a spring, nourishing your family and heal the wounds of the mountains.”
“Please, take the seed of healing, you wanted to gift to me, and plant it into Mother Earth. It is a gift for everyone and should not be kept from the world, just because I am hurt and experience fear, when someone wants to bestow love onto me. I do not mean harm or disrespect, but there is still pain rooted deeply within me. So please, plant it into the world to be a healing gift for everyone, to experience the seasons, grow and change, mend and heal. It will find its way to me, when it is time on my path."
While he was looking at the bottle in disbelief, a spirit of the meadows appeared and asked me about an old injury of mine. She then offered me healing. The moment she offered to heal my injury, past trauma was triggered within me and I was filled with terror and moved away from her. I did not want to let her near me and I did not want to take the seed, she wanted to plant within me. It took me a while to calm down and while my body was still on high alert and ready to flee, I had another idea and began creating new energetic structures that would help the spirit of the mountains. One by one the other spirits begun adding energies and soon we were building together. Again, the spirit of the meadows, offered me the seed of healing that would mend my wounds. My fear grew even greater and past hurts flooded my mind.

Amidst the storm of emotions, I had a vision. I saw a great lake and a beautiful purple bellflower breaking through the soil on the lake shore and coming into full bloom. Then the seasons turned and it withered, just to come into bloom again, this time not alone, but other bellflowers emerging from its seeds around her and different flowers and herbs growing side by side with them.

I did not understand, but kept working together with the other spirits, until we had finished building a new home for the mountain spirit and his kin. I felt the sadness of the spirit of the meadows, who had wished to help me heal, and said to her, “Please, take the seed of healing, you wanted to gift to me, and plant it into Mother Earth. It is a gift to everyone and should not be kept from the world, just because I am hurt and experience fear, when someone wants to bestow love onto me. I do not mean harm or disrespect, but there is still pain rooted deeply within me. So please, plant it into the world to be a healing gift for everyone, to experience the seasons, grow and change, mend and heal. It will find its way to me, when it is time on my path. Until then, let it shine onto everyone and not be kept away, just because I cannot see. It does not belong to me and is not to be kept by me, in my own abyss and darkness, hidden away. It is for everyone.” The seed in the hands of the spirit of meadows turned into pure light, growing into a bellflower made of light. I felt peace filling my heart, as she planted it.

My body turned into rich soil and a seed took root. A seed that will come into bloom in its own perfect time, a seed, being nourished by patience and love.

Parrot Wisdom

The parrot is a colorful mentor and teacher, playful and curious about the world surrounding him, travelling freely through all the realms, yet never going anywhere uninvited. He is a natural born diplomat, often called to protect, guide and accompany others on their journeys within.

Before he speaks, the parrot draws a breath deep into his heart and listens to its words of wisdom. He knows about the power behind all words spoken and unspoken, boon or bane. He says, “Be mindful of your words, spoken and unspoken, for they are the sparks that nourish the fire that creates your dream.”

The parrot is a great listener, sharp-witted, who takes note of every little detail. He uses his heart to listen, not his mind, for he knows his heart to be able to hear the truth behind every word uttered. It is his heart that answers and speaks, his true voice from deep within, his very core, boldly showing his true colors, while he is spreading seeds of wisdom and inspiration.

“Practice, practice, practice!”, the parrot repeats over and over again, “Follow yesterday’s steps with all the wisdom and skill of today!”

The parrot keeps repeating the words that were born in his heart, until they become a mantra and a chant nourishing his fire and the fires of those around him.

He uses his own colors to create his dream, never taking away anything from anyone else, for he knows, that all he needs, he already carries within his heart. He finds joy and magic in every moment, each place he visits a part of a world filled with endless wonders and magic.

How the White Parrot Got His Grey Feathers
A Yorùbá myth retold by Kristin Raphaela Otti

One morning, when the sun rose and bathed all of creation in its golden light, the Great One called all the birds to him and looked at them with a loving smile. “When Father Sun rises on the morrow and his healing light greets Mother Earth, I will call the bird with the most beautiful feathers to me.”

The birds started chattering excitedly, wondering about who would be chosen by the Great One. They talked about what they could do to make their feathers even more beautiful, even shinier and more colorful and very slowly their energies started to change. At first, they had been talking about each other’s beauty, now they were looking at each other with envy. Their words of encouragement turned into long tirades about the imperfection of others, they spoke behind each other’s backs and starred daggers at one another.

“You are indeed the most beautiful of them all, for true beauty is found within the heart and not on the outside. Much harm has been done to you and yet you answered my call unwavering, sharing your heart’s light without hesitation.”

All of the birds sought to improve their beauty by bathing in fresh spring waters, diving through rainbows, singing to Father Sun and asking Mother Earth for jewels, they could brighten up their feathers with. All but one. Odide, the white parrot, sat on a tree, his eyes closed, enjoying the sun and the mild breeze.

At first, the other birds thought nothing of Odide simply sitting there, then they became uneasy and started wondering, why he was doing nothing, while they were trying with all their might to improve their looks and appearance. Fear began creeping up in their hearts and they decided to play a trick on him. They flew up to a volcano and gathered some of the ashes, that were lying on the ground near the top. Grandfather Magma was watching them with knowing eyes, sighing.
Then the birds hid in the trees of the forest, Odide called home, and when he flew by later that day, they dumped the ashes on him, laughing and cackling. Now they had spoilt his beauty for good, or so they thought. Odide, meanwhile, did not seem to care nor did it have any effect on him. He kept flying around, talking to all of creation, a merry song accompanying him.

The other birds grew even angrier than they had been before and flew to a sorcerer, who lived in the darkest part of the forest, the one, where the only light, that is ever seen, is the one cast by the fire, the ancient sorcerer uses to brew his concoctions and prepare his charms. They told the sorcerer about Odide and asked him to turn his shiny white feathers blood red. The sorcerer looked upon them with ancient eyes, that did not remember the light of day, and did what they had asked of him.

The birds started singing triumphantly. Now that white parrot would not dare to show himself before the Great One. Feathers heavy and grey with ashes? Blood red tail feathers? He would not be courageous enough to come. He would not show his dirty feathers to the Great One.

When Father Sun rose to give Mother Earth a good morning kiss, the birds sat down on the trees around the Great One. One by one they came and when Odide flew in and landed on the Great One’s knee, the other birds gasped. “There you are, Odide!”, said the Great One lovingly. He looked at the parrot. “You are indeed the most beautiful of them all, for true beauty is found within the heart and not on the outside. Much harm has been done to you and yet you answered my call unwavering, sharing your heart’s light without hesitation.”
