Caring for Self, One Another
and Mother Earth

Greetings from Mom.  Every person who  cares for my beautiful and abundant creation has a story to tell.  Your stories inspire others to leave the old world of separation and co-create with me a New World of sacred relationships.  Living in harmony with Me brings the greatest joy.  Your joy becomes contagious spreading faster than hate and prejudice. Love is the greatest motivator, co-creator, sustainer and joy.  Join me with all your relations; two-leggeds, four-leggeds, scaled, winged, leafed, water, air, soil and fire.  It is all about love.   All stories add to the greatest story told for these times.

Out of Brazil: Miraculous Story of Pintadas

The Pintadas Project

The absence of having public policies held back the people of Brazilian Northeast until the people of the municipality of Pintadas demanded their rights in 1980s.  The Catholic Church, Basic Ecclesiastic Communities (CEBs), a progressive  grassroots organizing movement partnered with civil society organizations in Brazil and other countries, creating a mighty force for a pioneering experience that is highly successful: The Pintadas Project.  This brought together innovative social technologies for coexistence with the semi-arid region.  Construction of water storage combined with techniques for managing the use of water and producing inputs for periods of drought.  The Pintadas Networked formed in 1999 developed programs to improve the social and economic empowerment of women, the social inclusion of youth through culture, encouraging associations, collaboration and solidarity economic, water, food and nutrition security of vulnerable families and the sustainability of family farming.  They are the first city in the Northeast to reach 100% of rural household with water collection. Women's leadership played and important role on past and present achievements, bringing people together for dialogue and political participation: from the election of one of them to become their mayor and to turn water issues into public policies.  The women fight in defense of their water, their environment, towards economic autonomy, against violence and towards a greater political participation at local, regional and national levels, and being leaders in the global women's networks and movement.

Leader Lourivania Soares Santos is a journalist, master and doctor of Culture and Society, parliamentary advisor in the Commissions for the Defense of Women's Rights and human Right and Public Safety.  She is a feminist and solidarity economy activist, a Women's Rights Counselor for the state of Bahia, and one of the  coordinators of the Brazilian Grassroots Women Resilience Practitioners Platform, articulated by the Rede Pintadas.  They are linked to the Hauirou Commission, an international grassroots women's organization.  Lourivania will attend the UN Commission on the Status of Women representing Hauirou Commission, through the Rede Pintadas, she develops actions and research in defense of the semi-airid region, where she addresses issues of the right to water and environmental resilience.

Voices of Our Children

parliamentofreligions.org/blog/the-voices-of-our-children-2/
David Hales is the Chair of the Climate Action Task Force at the Parliament of the World’s Religions and the former leader of environmental policy and sustainability programs for the US Agency for International Development.    Ann Smith serves on this Task Force and the Women's Task Force.

The voices of our children call out to us. Sometimes it is a conscious cry, as in the school walkouts by hundreds of thousands of children in more than 100 countries calling for action on the climate crisis, the statements of young people at multiple climate and sustainability conferences, or in the many legal actions brought in courts around the world, including the case of Juliana v. United States. Sometimes the cry is unarticulated, and reflected through our children’s behavior, which too often is affected by our own irresponsibility. Either way, their cry to us is unmistakable.
Climate change is the defining Moral Issue of the 21st Century. Decisions we make, at the individual level, at the institutional level, and at the societal level, create climate winners and losers. This is a responsibility we cannot avoid.
We are the first generation in human history that has had the opportunity to achieve sustainable and just societies. We have the knowledge, the technology, and the wealth to succeed. Moreover, for half a century, we have known what the consequences of our choices would be for the world of the future and for our children. It is clear that we have lacked the courage and the will to make the morally right choices.
The reality that will follow from our refusal or inability to act is clear in its outline, and even in much of its detail. We, humans, have chosen to allow ourselves to become a force of geological proportions – to create the Anthropocene Age. Our fingerprints are all over every sin against the natural world and against our children.
Each and every one of us is responsible for the world our choices have created. Each day that passes without our finding the courage to make the decisions we know are necessary adds to the unconscionable burden we bequeath to our children and grandchildren. The difficulty of the decisions we leave to them will far exceed the difficulty of the decisions we face today.
Our children may curse us for our cowardice and greed as they consider their legacy of emptiness, poverty, and violence, but an even more dire fate awaits our grandchildren. We leave them a world that our parents would not recognize, bereft of much of the beauty, complexity, and riches we have squandered. Our actions are poised to break the bond between grandparents and grandchildren; we will not recognize the world in which we condemn them to live, and they will be strangers to the beauty and bounty of the world our parents left to us.
Scientists from across the world have built a body of knowledge that leaves no doubt about the imminent destination of the paths we are on. Many policymakers and advocates have called for fundamental change. Numerous economists and financial analysts have documented the effects of our wanton waste of the planet’s precious resources and of the willful indulgence of our own greed and unsustainable consumption. None of them have yet been sufficiently effective to change the policies of the world’s major nations, and we bear the responsibility for that.
Think of religious and faith leaders, especially at the local level, who have a responsibility to lead in paths of righteousness, have largely remained silent in the face of the greatest challenge faced by humankind. It is their silence that will be deemed the greatest dereliction of their responsibility by future generations.
Their silence does not excuse our silence or inaction, however. We each bear the responsibility for our own actions. Individual decisions we make in our own lives may seem to have small consequences in terms of the cumulative impact of CO2, but the moral implications of those decisions are not small for the individual making the decisions. Even if we make conscientious decisions ourselves and advocate for wise decisions and policies, the fact that our positions have not yet carried the day does not relieve us from bearing responsibility for the impacts of the decisions and policies that have prevailed.
No person of good faith and sound mind can deny that climate change is real and caused by the actions of humans. None can honestly deny that the consequences we are already experiencing will continue and worsen. We have chosen this climate-changed world with the decisions we have made, but we can still choose a different and better world together with our children.
The time for plain speaking and effective action is now.
Our children and theirs deserve a voice in the decisions we make today. We have an opportunity to begin to allow that voice to be heard by repurposing the Trusteeship Council of the United Nations to act on behalf of and in the best interests of future generations.
That is why I join the call for the Charter of the United Nations to be amended to include a new responsibility for the Trusteeship Council:
THE Trusteeship Council WILL ACT AS TRUSTEE FOR AND IN THE BEST INTERESTS OF FUTURE GENERATIONS, ESPECIALLY WITH REGARD TO THE MANAGEMENT OF THE GLOBAL COMMONS AND SUCH PUBLIC GOODS AND PUBLIC RISKS AS ARE ASSOCIATED WITH THE MANAGEMENT OF THE COMMONS. THE PURPOSE OF THIS MANAGEMENT GUIDANCE AND ADVICE SHALL BE TO PRESERVE THE RIGHT OF SELF-DETERMINATION FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS AND TO PREVENT ACTIONS WHICH WOULD FORECLOSE THE EXERCISE OF THAT RIGHT.
Under current law and governance, future generations are as disenfranchised as the residents of territories held under the UN Mandate at the time of adoption of the Charter, yet they will be affected by decisions and actions in which they have no agency. It should be the new and extended purpose of the Trusteeship Council to serve as Advocate for Future Generations in all UN Actions and decisions adopted under Conventions and Agreements ratified and recognized by the United Nations.
This proposed new role of the Trusteeship Council has immense potential to safeguard Rights recognized by the United Nations, especially the Right to a Healthy Environment. The ecosystems that support life on this planet – the atmosphere, oceans and ocean floors, and wildlands, including the Arctic and the Antarctic — belong to all. Ensuring the flourishing of these ecosystems for all humans – including future generations – and for all life on Earth, is essential to establishing Peace in the fullest sense of justice and harmony and is a fundamental responsibility of the United Nations.
Amending the UN Charter is not a task to be undertaken lightly. Only three initiatives have been successful, the latest in 1973. However, the provisions related to the Security Council and to the Economic and Social Council were grounded in the original principles and purpose of the Charter, and necessary to adapt to changing times. The proposed Amendment to repurpose the Trusteeship Council is also firmly grounded in the original principles and purposes and just as necessary to enable the UN to carry out unique fundamental responsibilities.
Thomas Jefferson put it plainly and simply:
“I am not an advocate for frequent changes in laws and constitutions, but laws and institutions must go hand in hand with the progress of the human mind. As that becomes more developed, more enlightened, as new discoveries are made, new truths discovered and manners and opinions change, with the change of circumstances, institutions must advance also to keep pace with the times.”

OCTOGERANIUMS

Tomorrow I turn 80.  I am joyfully celebrating with family and friends and all of you. I have thought up a rite of passage into this new and exciting phase of life. We are calling ourselves Octogeraniums, a hardy flower that has much wisdom to share and things we can do for the greater good. We wake up every day glad to be alive and to discover new ways of being in harmony with one another and Mother Earth and continue to play/work at how we can best be our wise and vibrant selves even with aging limitations. We are saying to ourselves and others we are not done yet.  Jean Shinoda Bolen came up with this brilliant word Octogenarian when she turned 80.  Great appreciation to her and others who are PathMakers into this new and exciting phase of elders.

WE ARE THE ARK

Tomorrow I turn 80 and celebrating with family and friends and all of you.

I just discovered Mary Reynolds from Ireland who was the youngest person to win the gold medal at the Chelsea Flower Show with her natural garden. She has written two books with a third one coming out in October, We are the Ark. This is also now a website www.wearetheart.org. You will find Jane Goodall's video on the home page, I love her message where she states, "things are only hopeless if we do nothing, so let’s do something!" Mary's story of winning the Chelsea Flower Show is a dramatized movie on Netflix. She now says she is a guardian of nature instead of gardener.
We have much to do and give with wonderful people around the world. Let's do it.

Sacred Circles

5/20/2022

When two or more come together in a sacred circle, we are transforming the destructive paradigm of patriarchy to a circle of equals in sacred relationships with all creation.  From ancient wisdom and practices along with the best of integrative medicine and regenerative gardening and farming, we are co-creating a healthy world.  We are re re-wilding our beautiful Mother Earth, inch by inch and circle by circle.

Sacred circles are ancient and modern.  They are free and can be convened anywhere.  Leadership is shared that ensures all take responsibility for having a sacred, meaningful and fun experience.

Green Tent Circles are changing the world circle by circle.

WHAT IS THE GREEN TENT CIRCLE ?

Green Tent Circle is you. It is us.  Everyone is invited and supported in hosting a Green Tent Circle.  Green Tent Circle transforms apathy through storytelling, photography, art, ceremony, ritual, circle conversations, creativity and celebrations.   Green Tent Circle can be a tent, yurt, blanket on the beach, under the trees, your home, church, community center.  It is the ideal place to come together in a safe, healing and supportive setting where we can discover our Earthly purpose and come up with community-based climate actions that restore, preserve and protect the natural world.

It is the place where we speak and listen from the heart without judgement.  It is a place of healing ourselves, one  another and Mother Earth.  Green Tent Circles are free and open to people of all ages.  Children and young people are most welcomed because we need their creativity, social media skills and energy.

Everyone is a leader and fully participates in building  more resilient and environmentally sustainable communities.  Where it's easy and fun to share  ideas because there is no judgment and c
onfidentiality in circle conversations is kept so it is a safe place to share our feelings and our lives.    Where we listen to one another's dreams and become one another's  cheerleaders in carrying out climate actions.

Everyone is connected to many others and most likely other organizations that will help carry out actions and host Green Tent Circles.  Just imagine how quickly and expansively this will grow when we each reach out to our contacts, strangers, networks, coalitions, circles and affiliations to other organizations.

Our structure is organic and spreads throughout the world.  Our leadership is circular where everyone is a leader.  We share the collective wisdom and power with others.  We share the resources. Power comes from Divine Feminine, unlimited and beyond our imaginations,  We are learning from the non-verbal world.

The Millionth Circle and Gather The Women are two organizations that are part of a circle movement so when ever a Green Tent Circle meets it is one more in bringing about a tipping point, the millionth circle that is bringing restorative and proactive sustainable change.

We are Global and Local.  Together we will involve thousands who will involve thousands.  We will reach those who have not been part of the climate action movement.  Through our storytelling, deep listening and cocreativity we will transform apathy by changing hearts and minds.  We are guided and motivated by love that unites us as equals to all creation.  We are becoming love and cocreators with nature as  reciprocal partners in harmony with Mother Earth.    We are the change that is needed now.

Astrological Reading

11/23/2021

Green Tent Circle was born November 6, 2021, 1PM Eastern Time.  She came into this world through the help of midwives, doulas, nature spirits and Goddesses from different parts in the world.  According to Her astrological chart, she was born on a most auspicious day.  Karin Peschau, midwife and artist gives the following reading.

The rising sign (ascendant) is in Gemini, an air-sign, governed by mercury: communication, exchange, meeting, information etc. On the Eastern horizon the moment she was born there were Ceres (the Earth-mother, nourishing quality) and Lilith the archaic female force that won’t get oppressed, she is claiming her rights, no matter how high the prize may be. In opposition to these two factors: the moon, right on the descendant: the is the female principal excepted by patriarchal ideology: soft, giving, mothering, giving without asking anything in return.

Sitting on this main axe we can already understand the dynamic energies being at work; she is entering in a demanding way: her freedom is claimed and to get what is hers.

Ruler mercury being conjunct mars in Scorpio, house 6: a lot of power there (smashing patriarchy indicated by square to Saturn near MC (the highest place, ruling with his authority in the same old, castrating and suppressing way). 6th house issues are also health and healing, daily life, service to others.

Venus, the female archetype accepted by men as the symbol of beauty, harmony is conjunct Juno, Juno is posed on the Galactic Center, the center of the Universe, the creative beginning of all life and Venus is at the cusp of the 8th house, being the house of transformation, of death and rebirth.

Jupiter in house 10 could make this child, this project well known to many people around the world, reinforced by the sign of Aquarius bringing new visions and braking with old belief-systems that have no meaning and value anymore.       MAY IT BE
